Dorchester Giant is created.

1830

The fanciful character appears in a poem of that name by Oliver Wendell Holmes. In it, he describes Roxbury Puddingstone, a conglomerate of shale, sandstone, and volcanic rock found in the Boston area, as being scattered by “Giants [who] flung it over to Roxbury hills, / They flung it over the plain, / And all over Milton and Dorchester too.”
